Howling monkey!
Sunday, October 28, 2007

Jayden is experimenting with noises he can make. At first it was o's and e's then it was lots of sounds then giggles and laughter then he turned into a screeching baby making really high pitched noises and then laughing so you know nothing was wrong now he does this creaking noise as if opening a rusty door, well at least thats how my mom explains it, and he also does this wierd cough like thing but its not really a cough its as if he's trying to get those harder consonant sounds. Now this is very cute normally i love when he starts talking but when we're at 7am mass with old people they don't appreciate it much. And j does it precisely when the entire church is silent lol. I chuckle to myself when he does it and someone looks back. Lol. PS. Its starting to get cooler so now i can dress j in layers and with sweaters and pants lol.

Halloween fun!
Saturday, October 27, 2007

From a surfer to ballerina to pumpkins gallore... J's first halloween party went well and it may be bc all the babies are growing but they smiled so much more and us parents were all in synch with the songs and activities. Soon its going to be time to register j for the next semester now i'm debating whether to enroll him, or to go to my gym or gymboree.s music class?

Today is my first day home with my love this week and i realize one thing i miss while i'm at work is when he falls asleep in my arms. He looks so peaceful and beautiful. He sleeps with me holding him. When i let go my little gordo wakes. I don't know but i love that he's so comfortable in mommy's arms.

i can't even sew a button!

I need to learn how to sew and crochet and just be artsy fartsy!!!

I check online all the time, thanks to CoolMomPicks all these clothes for kids that are SUPER cute. and then I just get IRRITATED b/c it's a $40 shirt that is hand made by someone grabbing a onesie and sewing two skiggles.

Ok. so $40 for something hand made that j is going to grow out of in less than 3 mo is not cool. Especially theres always shipping and handling! Why are all these cool clothing stores in Idaho and Wisconsin????

J's up time to go get ready to start the day.

So far i've been working for two days. Yesterday was my dad.s day with J. We were all wondering who will poop their pants first. But nope my dad did a great job. He fed j when he was supposed to, took him outside for some fresh air, and he got him to nap twice! I get home and after j wakes i'm holding him and after giving me a big smile he's more worried about playing with his grandpa still! Today it was my mom.s turn. She's a pro though so no worries. Both times i talked to her on the phone you could hear J cracking up in the background. She did make me sad when she put the phone on speaker and i talked to j and she told me he started scanning the room looking for me. But so far so good. I miss him greatly but i know he's in great hands! Now i'm going to take advantage of night time play and the weekends!!

Pumpkin Patch
Sunday, October 21, 2007

although David doesn't consider it a Pumpkin Patch...

well it was, at least that's what the sign said!!!

This was also my first trip to pick out a pumpkin, we've gotten them before but I think from the store, I don't remember, but I thought it would be something to make a tradition as J gets older then he can pick out his own pumpkin (this was David's suggestion and I like it).

I love taking J places bc he just looks all over the place and is so easily amuzed. Especially since it was something brightly colored. He was looking all over, I could barely get him to look at the camera.

But I found him a little pumpkin just for him that he can grab with his hands and hopefully I remember and put it near him for his halloween pic in his costume! And then we got a big one for me to carve and put outside for the neighbor kids to know we have candy to give.

Ooh J's ready to go trick or treating too, I went and picked up the little box for unicef... now to hope the neighbors feel like giving that day.

Hookie!!

So yesterday it looked very gloomy out, and I wasn't in the mood to drive to Davie if it was rainig (if you don't know me, I HATE driving in the rain). So Jayden and I played Hookie! lol

But it wasn't raining, and we were bored, so we ventured out to mullins park, they wer having a community garage sale. I'm looking for a bumbo seat bc thats something J will out grow in NO time, but until then it can help him learn to sit by himself. But nah, nothing cool, well not what I was looking for, they probably had other stuff, but not that Bumbo seet, so I didn't really look. I had brought along my bro, I was surprised, he's not much of the outdoors on a muggy/hot day type of person. But he came along, and we ventured away from the garage sale and actually cruised the park instead.

There was flag football going on with kids max in like 3rd grade. But probably even younger. It was so cute, they have teams that match real NFL teams and little cheerleaders. David liked this, and pointed out that my mom and I would be the type of moms/grandmoms to go to the games in real shirts to support J (very true). Hopefully Jayden doesn't play for the Jets or something, bc I dont like green or the dolphins or bengals, bc I'm kindof over orange colors. lol. j/k

This also brought on the thought of what sports I'd like to sign up J for in little league... I'm going to go with T-Ball, bc its so cute when they just swing at the thing and then run around. lol. SOccer, bc once again they just run around, and I like the commercial for publix with the little boy playing soccer who trips over the ball but is still having the time of his LIFE! Basketball, well bc I played basketball, and football bc how cute when they get into tackle and its this lil person with all the equipment. But when he's old enough and has tried them out J will decide what he wants. I'm open to anything really... bUT GOLF or tennis, those are kinda LAME!

I also like Karate and swimming.

Psychosexual Stages of Development
Thursday, October 18, 2007

I guess Freud was right with his developmental stages bc right now until J is 18 months old, he is STUCK in the Oral stage.

We've been having eating issues. after the park that night grandma finally got him to eat the squash (YES W/OUT GAGGING), the next morning I couldn't get him to eat his cereal, but that night he ate the squash again and this mornig cereal was a success again!!! I must point out I couldn't have gotten him to eat the squash if it wasn't for David singing and dancing along to kid tunes! (lol sorry to call u out).

Also he's in month 4 which is a growth spurt month, so it J is hungry ALL the time.

And lastly, i think he's teething, bc EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. His toys, his bib, his fingers, my fingers, my cell phone. everything.

Park!
Tuesday, October 16, 2007

What's better than a mom. A grandma! And j takes full advantage. Today we went to the childrens park and j was all smiles. We tried the baby swings but since he's still too small my mom held his hands and we also covered the seat so he wouldn't be touching it. He started laughing. Then we did the grown up swings with me holding him and also my mom. He liked this too. Then we did the slide. It was colorful so j liked looking down the whole time. Also the floor was colorful so he kept talking to it too. It was good out. Not too sunny and just enough windy. I'd say our trip to the park went well.

Yuck!

lol, Jayden really is not a fan of Squash! Yesterday morning when I went to feed him his cereal, he looked at me skeptically and before the spoon even went in his mouth he did a gagging face, lol. Then as I succesfully got him to open his mouth, he ate super slow making sure everybite going in was cereal. Well at least thats what it seemed like he was doing. Towards the end, he realized only cereal and went back to eating well, opening his mouth big and wide and taking it all in.

Now for dinner time we had a different outcome. He went in with the first spoon like it was cereal, but the second his mouth touched the ingredients (jst squash) he did gag face again. I tried again, I sang to him (david sang to him too) I tried playing with him, but he wouldnt swallow! he would take the spoon and take the food, keep it all in his mouth then spit it all out! He kept turning his face, then the last straw, he cried. No more squash attempts for Jayden (well for that feeding).

I got a plan, I'm going to try squash for lunch when he wakes up from his nap, bc thats when he's the happiest, so maybe he'll go for it?

You can go out and buy all the most expensive toys yet j prefers the simple stuff. Today in class he loved when i'd waive a scarf over his head. He prefered my cell to the rattles and music sticks. But his favorite yet was this house with mirror walls i took the idea from a mom and put j on the bumbo seat inside the walls and this is where i saw him the most animated he looked up in front to the sheep on the floor and smiled and cooed at that baby looking back at him. Very cute. Gotta get my tools and put the mirrors together at home.

Mommy Milestones
Wednesday, October 10, 2007

I was reading an article on Parents.com titled "6 Milestones that Make a Mom". Now most people are familiar with the typical baby milestones, like when they coo, when they start grabbing, when they start sitting up, etc. As I read this article, I started thinking yup, yup.

Heres the list (abbreviated):

#1: Venturing outside as a family - Check!
#2: First solo trip with baby - Check! (AND EVERY TRIP IS AN ACHIEVEMENT! especially with J, bc he is NOT A FAN of the carseat)
#3: Mastering Nursing while multitasking - Check! (How else do I get reading done, important phone calls, work)
#4: Becoming a Mama Bear - Sort of, (the article states how you want to tackle the Dr. giving the baby a shot, but not really, bc I know J needs it. But I do get finicky about doing things to make sure he is happy, whether it means ending a trip short, shushing the entire family bc J is trying to sleep, etc)
#5: Getting a mom haircut - CHECK! Well I didnt really get a "mom" haircut bc thats like short hair like meg ryan, but I did get a haircut and it had been a long while.
#6: Singing in public and realizing you've memorized "the wheels on the bus" - I do find myself in public singing children's songs all the time regardless of whether J is there or not. lol

The point of this blog was mainly bc I just cut my hair today, which was almost at waist length, after my mom being after me for MONTHS! =}

My memory is full on the phone, so picture to come sometime in the near future.

Fez!

Its so funny, as I was giving J his breakfast (rice cereal!) I had Playhouse Disney on as background noise. It's wierd to think that Wilmer Valderama, the same guy that plays Fez, and does Yo Momma! is the same person that does Handy Manny! It's so wierd to hear his accent. I could just imagine Handy Manny wearing tacky clothing, or worse yet, making up LAME jokes!

Today is Celebrate LIFE day!

Well thats what they told us at church this morning.

So to recap yesterday, bc i've been busy/slacking with my blogs.

We went to our class yesterday, and I'm liking it so much now! yesterday's theme seemed to be music! Jayden really enjoyed sitting on this little booster seat kinda and playing with a huge windchime the teacher brought. He also liked the shakers, the first time we did egg shakers when his dad was down, J was not a fan! But this time, he reached for it, so I gave it to him and he shook it and then tried to eat it, lol. THey also had these little kiddie radios, that you turn in the back and they start to sing and the picture moves in the front... I guess it's more like a TV then. They also had this cool water thing, and the teacher said we could do it ourselves by getting a gallon size ziplock bag, putting water, oil, food coloring if we want, toys, and sparkles and then he can touch it and feel the water moving around.

O and the best news of all, is that my mom got J this little birdie for his 4 months that attaches to his carseat, and it has become my best friend. Yesterday was the first time I used it, and when I'm in traffic its wonderfull, bc so far I pull it, and it has this lovely melody and J grabs on to the birdie and falls asleep! so no more Mr. Cranky pants in the car!!! well hopefully =}

Today we are trying rice cereal for the first time!!! I'm starting him with BeechNut stage 1, too bad it has no flavor (thats what the box says, i'll let someone else try it), but the Pediatrician said I only have to give him cereal for like a week, and he can eat real baby food. I'm thinking carrots could be his first. I like carrots. Any suggestions?

Things may be looking up...
Friday, October 5, 2007

Ok, so yesterday was J's first babysitting experience. Except it was with my mom, lol. I've left him before with my mom or my brother and gone to pick something up real quick, but I don't count those, bc if I would've gotten a phone call, I'd rush right Home! But yesterday wasn't the case. I was so worried, bc it was the day after his vaccines and kids usually get a fever within 24 hours. So I told my mom where the thermometer was, and to call me if it was at all high. I also called to find out how much children's tylenol I give him when he does have a 101 degree fever. So I went, I was going to be out for at least 2 hours. When I left he was sleeping, and he did so my mom told me till 8:45. I got out of my meeting and I called right away, the whole time I was thinking OMG this is so long!! My mom told me he was cranky for a little bit, burped (he's like a little pig) and was fine. I come home and he flashes me a smile =} as soon as he sees me. (he's going to be a heartbreaker). So our first babysitting experience went well for him and me.

I'm excited, bc maybe things are going to start looking up for me... maybe, I'll let you know when and if it happens. I hope so. All we can do is pray and thank God that things could be much worse I guess.

Octoberfest!
Thursday, October 4, 2007

Yesterday watching Rachel Ray, she was celebrating Oktoberfest. One of her guests was the little girl from America's got talent and she was yodeling. Long story short... Jayden loved it and made tons of noises after she was done and giggling.

After she does it she teaches us some, good thing bc J loves it even though I sound retarded yodeling around the house, lol.

Zodiac!
Wednesday, October 3, 2007

I was looking up something from the Munchkin website, since Jayden can now start eating solids!!!!and ther was this zodiak link, i remember while i was pregnant i read the one for gemini babies, but i dont remeber what it said, lol, so i decided to read again, to see if so far so good. The site has a 'Your Child's Future' and 'Your Parenting Future link....

For Jayden:

Sign:
Gemini
(May 21 - June 20)

Info:
Rules: Mercury
Quality: Mutable, Air
Birth stones: Beryl, Aquamarine
Birth color: Yellow
Birth metal: Quicksilver
Harmonious signs: Aquarius, Libra
Details:
The gemini child is bright, alert and very active. their mind is always going a mile a minute and so are their bodies. Constantly curious about everything, they learn very rapidly and need stimulating new input. not carefully watched, their ability to make mischief is awesome. Explanations are important to young gemini and they need to know the whys behind everything so be prepared. "I'm the parent, that's why." is not good enough for this kid. Make sure your little gemini baby gets lots of sleep. Imagination is very strong in gemini children and can be channeled to develop acting skills.

For My Parenting Future:

Sign:
Sagittarius
(Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)

Info:
Rules: Jupiter
Quality: Mutable, Fire
Birth stones: Carbuncle, Turqoiuse
Birth color: Light Blue
Birth metal: Tin
Harmonious signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Details:
Your caring friendship and quick cheery manner makes you an exceptional companion and a truly devoted parent. You love adventure and life with you will never be dull. travel is your middle name and you will have to settle in one place for awhile to give your child a consistent home life and friendships. You notice and remember all details about people you like and will go to great lenghts to find ways to please your friends. You take great pride in locating hard to find things and like to run things your way. Sagittarians are very direct and can blurt out things better left unsaid. your child will always come to you for solace and comfort and cheering up.

Seems like we'll be just fine.
For him so far seems right, he is very curious (or nosey, lol) and he does have baby add (well not really, he just gets bored quickly). I'm excited if its true he'll want to know everything, I personally don't like the b/c I said so excuses, so this will be interesting for me, and the mischievious part, i'm up for the challenge! =)

They were...

BUGS BUNNY BANDAIDS!!!

This time he got all 5 vaccinnes with 4 shots on his thighs and one that he drinks ! Good thing he's got some meat on those thunder thighs!!

Like last time, he was a trooper, of course he cried as soon as they pricked him, but then he stopped but she had to prick him again 3 more times, but other than that he was great! I think im the one who wants to cry more for him, lol.

The doctor said he's perfect! He's healthy and in the 50th percentile of his growth!! so there goes my paranoia for obesity in children, so far J is doing just right.

As for my other appointment, my little buddy slept right through!

ps. He got a little fireman sticker from the doctor! =}

I know, i'm corny, but i love it.

I'm so excited we go to the Doctor today and I get to see how J is doing, It's vaccination time, plus my tons of questions get to be answered!!!!

O and the Doctor is a hottie... too bad he's married, bc he's not that much older than me either, lol.

Bad thing is, I have an appointment like an hour later, so I might have to cancel that one depending on how he reacts to the vaccines and what mood he's in.

Last time they put little blue bandaids on his thighs and arms, I wonder what color they'll be this time.

Driving with J

SO I held myself back from mobile blogging today so I could find the video that I'm going to reference, but no luck, so if someone else does, send me the link so I can incorporate it.

ANyways... If you've seen that car commercial, its either for a VW or a Nissan, where theres a dad and a baby and when he drives the baby doesn't cry, and when he's getting ready to break she starts crying? Well that commercial is SO TRUE for Jayden when he's in the back and getting sleepy (except in the commercial its a not very pretty, white baby girl). As long as I'm continuously driving he's happy, but as soon as I slow down for a red light he starts crying, and if I slow then drive, he cries softly, then stops, lol. It's really quite funny, but if I can find the commercial I'll put it on, bc it makes more sense.

Now this one I can use!!!

Totally applies to Jayden (well not really, he doesn't cry, but he does squirm and acts like OMG):

"How to avoid a crying baby when washing their hair.
When baby is having their hair washed, they always try and breathe as the water is going over their face, and swallowed water = a crying baby. If you blow on their face just before you pour the water, they instinctively take a deep breath in, so no crying baby."

Too Bad J is still an infant

b/c I always find the most random cooking projects that are fun for kids to do, or for them to see and same with arts and crafts.

like this one i think is cute for breakfast:

"Decorate your child’s toast for breakfast fun
If you want to make your child smile at breakfast, try to decorate their toast. Its fun and easy. Take a small amount of milk and add food coloring of your choice to it. Take a piece of bread and use a new paintbrush to color in the design of your choice. I tried a heart. Then toast it. Your design will still be on the toast. Just make sure not to paint too much or the bread will be soggy." daytipper.com

so now what I gotta do is figure out how I can store all these things I find the best way. I'm thinjking like a notebook with stuff written and printed out. Kinda like a wishbook. hmmm... gotta get to it, i know I got a notebook somewhere.
Till then, I'm putting stuff here so I dont forget!

A little about celebrity gossip
Monday, October 1, 2007

well i guess its not really gossip, bc it happened. Brittney Spears lost custody of her kids. Yeah she's gone in a downward spiral and shes done stupid, stupid things, but i don't really think Kevin Federline is best. How come he wasn't made to take drug and alcohol tests like she was ordered by the judge. I was reading other people's comments about this, and I do agree with a mom that wrote "Hopefully any descent mother will leave Brittany alone! i think this is a shame for both Brittany and her children... ...I think the judge went with the publicity on this one!!! Good luck to her and her boys!!! No mother is perfect but the rest of us are not in the national eye!!!" In a sense I do think its too much bc of the media. There were times were I'd be out at a club and I'd see someone who I KNOW has kids out partying getting completely SHIT faced not caring that they have to go home soon to their kids and god forbid something happens to the kids at night, like they wake up and trip or cut themselves or just have nightmares, etc. Or how about the parents that leave their kids 24/7 in day care or with a nanny, not just working but going out and having fun. If they dont want to spend time with their kids its doing them the some harm in a way. I dont know. Yeah Brittney did some very dumb stuff, but maybe ordering her to get a nanny, and take those classes, and force some counseling b/w her and her mom might be better, bc it can teach her, well more like show her what parenting can really be like.

Wrap Up...

To wrap up this weekend, well saturday, you know we went to class, then J got his first boo-boo and didn't cry (theres nothing there now), then we watched UF-Auburn. I don't think they should have night games, J can't stay up that late! he tried, but pooped out during half time.

Sunday, we went to church like always, J stayed awake the whole time and was a very good boy, unlike the big boys talking so much, standing on the seats, and giving me a headache. Why their mom was oblivious to the fact, I dont know. We played our family tradional board game, Parcheesi. It's like trouble except you actually roll the dice. Jayden couldnt play but he watched and he was all excited trying to grab everything off the board. It might have been the noise of the dice or just the bright colors, but he liked this game very much. Then we did some errands with my mom, and my aunt came to visit J. She said he's changed so much and looks like a tamal! lol. then he got sleepy, and off to bed we went.

For this week:
J is going to FAU! (he's a college boy already, he's been to three, lol)
Doctors appointment and shots =..{
Possibly eating solids now!!! (we gotta wait to see what the doctor says)
Mommy has an appointment, and J gets to come too!
Class on Thursday with new kids (make up for Yom Kippur)
Hopefully my library books will be in and they can call me to pick up the baby yoga dvd i put on hold!!!!
If its sunny this week, we're hanging out with my tia and going swimming again!!! J likes the pool, he just chills. I'm waiting for month 6 when I can sign him up for mommy and me swimming, so he can start learning to swim!!! BUt i think im going to have to wait more for like month 9 bc during month 6 we'll be entering winter time? Boo

OK i'm done, adios, and i think i may nap for hopefully 5 mins b4 he wakes again...
